Who was Amber Lynn Costello?
Amber Lynn Costello, a 27-year-old woman, resided at 1112 America Ave. in West Babylon. She was last seen by acquaintances, leading a troubled life dominated by addiction. Costello, along with her two male roommates, lived a life consumed by heroin addiction. As a heroin addict and sex worker, she relied on advertising her services on platforms like Craigslist and Backpage to sustain her addiction and support her roommates. Standing at just 4 feet 11 inches tall, Costello used the aliases Carolina or Mia and bore distinct tattoos, including “Kaos” on her neck, a butterfly on her lower back, and the word “Margeret” on her leg.
The Dangerous Lifestyle and Last Moments
Having moved from Clearwater, Florida, Costello had previously completed a 28-day drug rehabilitation program but sadly relapsed shortly before her disappearance. Costello and her roommates shared a cellphone, and both female roommates engaged in sex work to fuel their heroin addiction. The two male roommates would arrange dates for the women, often executing scams in which they confronted clients after payment, claiming Costello as their girlfriend and causing the clients to flee.
On September 2, 2010, Costello left her residence on foot to meet a client who was picking her up at her house. Notably, she did not have her cellphone with her at the time. Tragically, she was never seen again.
