Aging Criteria - Documentation for Bmc Ami Devx File-Aid/Data Solutions 23.01

The Date Aging function allows you to create and edit formatted date aging criteria and process this criteria to age dates. The Aging Criteria screen, shown in the following figure, is displayed when you press <Enter> on the Input Dataset Specification after selecting option 1 on the Aging Tools Menu. It enables you to enter criteria to be used during the date aging process.

Field descriptions

Rules

Member name containing business date rules.

Set

Identifies the set of criteria displayed.

01 Level Name

Name of the record file structure from layout.

GBL

Specifies whether one or more global fields have been attached to this set of criteria (N or Y).

SEL

Specifies whether selection criteria has been attached to this set of criteria (N or Y).

FIELD LEVEL/NAME

Name of the field from layout.

FORMAT

Length and type of field.

RO

Specify a relational operator. Possible values are:

+

Add to date (default)

-

Subtract from date

R

Replace with the specified new date

Replicates last entered criteria

FM

Field mask. For more information, see Field Mask.

Important

If you use R as the RO, field content and field length will not be validated. If you use + or - as the RO, field length will not be validated.

-C-

Century. Specify up to three numeric digits.

When processing date formats without a century (2-digit year), you may override the default pivot year value, 60, by entering a value in the -C- (Century) field.

-Y-

Year. Specify up to three numeric digits.

-M-

Month. Specify up to three numeric digits.

-D-

Day. Specify up to five numeric digits.

DATE PATTERN

Specify the date pattern exit to call for this field. The date pattern exit converts this date into a standard date format used in File-AID/Data Solutions processing. If this field is left blank when a relational operator (RO) is specified, Data Solutions displays the Available Date Patterns screen.

R

Apply business rules field. Specify Y (Yes) to use business rules. The default is N (No).

Important

When the RO = R (Replace) and R = Y (Yes), Data Solutions displays an error message.

Guidelines for formatted aging criteria

To specify a formatted aging criterion, choose a date field and enter the relational operator, a numeric value in the century, year, month, and/or days field, and the appropriate date pattern. Leave the fields blank for fields not involved in the aging criteria.

Use the INPUT, INSERT, or REPEAT primary command to specify multiple sets of aging criteria. When multiple sets of aging criteria are specified, Data Solutions applies them one at a time in the order they are specified.

In theory, you can create any number of sets of aging criteria. However, the actual number is limited by available storage. Storage is primarily affected by the number of relational operators used.

Important

  • File-AID/Data Solutions protects group level date fields. You can use the first elementary level to specify aging criteria.
  • When aging segmented records, Data Solutions can age the BASE and all segments after the BASE, providing the type and length of all preceding segments can be identified as defined in the XREF.
