In 2008, he introduced a chic fall collection and used black as a prime color. He designed clothes for many renowned celebrities from the American showbiz world. The young designer was born on Dec 26, 1983, in San Francisco, California. He was born to parents who originally came from Taiwan and became American immigrants. The name of Wang’s talented brother is Dennis. Both of them have been raised together under the guidance of their parents. Alex is not able to speak Mandarin Chinese language because he never lived in China or Taiwan. However, he has managed to speak the basic Mandarin Chinese in some of his videos.

Wang was just fifteen years of age when he attended the Central Saint Martins’ design program. He went to the Harker School for getting elementary and middle school education. He has also been studying at a boarding school located next to Pebble Beach, California. He studied his ninth grade at Stevenson School. He was eighteen years of age when he relocated to New York City, where he attended the Parsons School of Design. After spending two years at the design school, he decided to pursue a career as a fashion designer. In 2005, he started looking for opportunities that could help him climb up the success ladder. The early days of his professional life weren’t always easy. He wanted to launch his own fashion label under his own name. Wang’s parents kept supporting him, no matter where he lived to attain success as a fashion designer.

Design Career

In 2007, Alexander came up with an exciting range of ready-to-wear fall collection for women. His dresses were presented in front of the audience during a catwalk show held in New York City. His design efforts were well-received by critics and soon he started to gain traction in the fashion industry. In 2008, he won Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund worth $20,000. He was awarded this amount to start his own business endeavor. He didn’t waste that money at all and launched his trendy handbag collection that same year.

The next year in 2009, the struggling designer launched a new line of women’s T-shirts. After the great success of his designs, he launched tees for men the next year. He received the ‘Designer of the Year’ award at the CFDA Swarovski award event. Wang’s lines are now available internationally in over 700 stores such Dover Street Market, Barneys New York, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Browns, and Net-a-Porter.
