ALGS 2023 Championship - Schedule & Format
The ALGS 2023 Championship will kick off on September 6th, 2023, and will wrap up on September 10th, 2023. The tournament is organized by EA and Respawn Entertainment and will take place at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The championship will be split into three stages - Group Stage, Bracket Stage, and Finals. In each stage, teams will battle it out in thrilling matches on the World's Edge and Storm Point maps. You can learn more about the different stages by expanding the drop-down menu below.
ALGS 2023 Championship Format
Group Stage
In this initial stage, the 40 qualifying teams are divided into four equal groups, each containing ten teams. Each group will face off in a series of six games, resulting in a total of 18 games for every team. Teams will then be sorted into the Bracket Stage based on their Group Stage Score.
Bracket Stage
The Bracket Stage comprises an 8-game series in the Winners Bracket and two 8-game series in the Losers Bracket. The progression to the Finals is as follows:
- Winners Bracket: The top ten teams move forward to the Finals. The other teams fall to the Losers Bracket Round 2.
- Losers Bracket Round 1: The top ten teams progress to the Losers Bracket Round 2, while the rest are eliminated from the ALSG 2023 Championship.
- Losers Bracket Round 2: The top ten teams advance to the Finals, and the remaining teams are eliminated.
Finals
In the Final Stage of the ALGS 2023 Championship, the twenty remaining teams compete under a "Match Point" format. The teams coming from the Winners Bracket are seeded based on their previous placement and start the Finals with Advance Starting Points.
- There's no match limit in the Finals.
- Once a team reaches >49 points in the Finals, they become "Match Point Eligible."
- The first team to win a match after achieving "Match Point Eligibility" is declared the winner.
- After declaring the winner, ranks 2nd through 20th are determined by total Finals points.
- There's no limit to the number of teams that can achieve "Match Point Eligibility."
The top ten teams from the Winners Bracket begin the Finals with points assigned based on their seeding.
