They were stationed at the military complex of Caserma Ederle. When Amy was eight years old, the family relocated to Castle Rock, Colorado.

After leaving the army, her father went on to sing professionally in nightclubs. Going to her father’s gigs and sipping Shirley Temples at the bar were two of Adams’ favorite childhood memories. The nine-member family enjoyed camping and hiking together, as well as performing amateur skits written by their parents.

Amy was a member of the Douglas County High School choir and studied as a ballet dancer in her spare time. Amy and her mother moved to Atlanta, Georgia, after graduation, and she chose not to attend college. She supported herself by working as a greeter and waiter at a Gap shop.
