Every aboveground part of the chickweed—stem, leaf, bud, and flower—is edible, but you will want to be somewhat selective in harvesting because only the top inch or two of the stem is ideal for eating.
Does chickweed have any poisonous look alikes?
If you see something that looks like chickweed, but the flowers are orange, do not eat it. That is a toxic look-alike called Scarlet Pimpernel. Another toxic look-alike is young, common spurge, and it often grows in patches of chickweed.
