Are Call Ducks Friendly

Temperament: Call Ducks are friendly, very tame, and great with children. They are active and animated and can provide hours of entertainment. One thing to note is that although these are small ducks, their call is very loud; female Call Ducks could disturb neighbors.

Why are call ducks so loud?

They are popular pet ducks for the garden but remember they were originally bred as a decoy duck to use on ponds and lakes, either in large wildfowl traps or to lure in wild ducks, or to bring wild ducks in range of the wildfowlers’ guns. They needed to have a loud ‘call’ to attract the attention of passing wildfowl.

What was the call duck originally used for?

Call ducks were initially used in hunting, where their own calls and quacks—which are characteristically high in pitch as a result of their small size, and especially loud—would attract wild ducks towards the hunter.
