Are Hymenal Polyps Dangerous?

Hymenal tags are offshoots of extra hymen tissue that typically project off the edge of the hymen. Hymenal polyps and hymenal tags are almost always benign (not cancerous).

Do Hymenal polyps go away?

Often, hymenal tags or polyps that are present at birth will shrink and disappear without treatment. Tags that appear later in life may also disappear on their own. Treatment usually isn't necessary unless you begin to experience swelling or other discomfort.

How do you get rid of Hymenal skin tags?

Doctors can easily and safely remove skin tags. One option is to freeze the tag off with liquid nitrogen. A doctor may also inject a numbing solution into the skin and cut the skin tag with scissors or a scalpel. These procedures are not painful but the skin may feel tender temporarily.
