Working closely with our nursing team, our Ob/Gyns stay current on our patients' needs and concerns. If you go into labor at a time when your regular provider is not on call or available, the attending Ob/Gyn will have the information they need to care for you and your baby.
Do you call your Obgyn When you go into labor?
Labor contractions occur regularly, more frequently as time goes on. For example, sometimes they start about 10 minutes apart, then get closer together. When it gets to be 5-7 minutes between contractions, it's time to call your obstetrician.
How do Obgyn schedules work?
The working hours can vary depending on the medical facility where you work, but most full-time obstetricians and gynecologists work between 40 and 60 hours per week, plus one or two nights per month when they are on call. There are also many in the field who choose to only work for four days per week.
