Are Pavers Pervious or Impervious?

TRUEGRID® Paver
Pervious pavement is designed to let water naturally seep through it and go down into the soil beneath. Impervious pavement does not allow water to seep through it. Instead, with impervious pavement, water runs off into storm drains that are lined along the road or paved surface at particular intervals.

Do pavers count as impervious?

Pervious pavers serve the same purpose as pavement- allowing people to walk, drive and park on them, but unlike impervious pavement- they can provide the environmental benefit of stormwater treatment and capture.

Are pavers considered permeable?

The standard interlocking paving stone is not permeable, which means it does not drain water. While regular pavers are designed to be flexible, they are not meant to be permeable.
