Are Rewetting Drops the Same as Eye Drops?

Eye drops for dry eye are not the same as “rewetting drops.” The two categories are easily confused, but are very different. Dry eye drops are made to lubricate the eye, not the contact lens. Many of these drops contain oils or are fairly thick.

Can you use rewetting drops as eye drops?

Certain eye drops can be used with contact lenses. Many contact lens wearers use rewetting drops to make their contacts feel more comfortable. However, some eye drops should not be used with contact lenses.

Can you use contact rewetting solution as eye drops?

Rewetting drops are perfect for hydrating your eyes, especially when wearing contacts. This is definitely your best bet when treating dry, irritated eyes. Contact solution, however, has a mixture of cleaners in it and is purely for washing and disinfecting your contacts.
