Mallory Swanson was born Mallory Pugh on 29th April 1998, in Littleton, Colorado, to Karen and Horace Pugh.
She has an older sister Brianna Pugh, and they grew up together in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Her parents were both athletes; her mother was a long-distance runner, while her father ran track and played football.
Mallory started playing soccer at the tender age of four. She dreamed of playing on the national team and representing her country internationally.
Her dream and passion fueled her to pursue her soccer career at a young age. In her school book, she says,
I want to be on the USA soccer team and win a gold medal
Swanson graduated from Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch in 2016. She was already a star in her high school, garnering popularity and several awards and achievements.
After finishing high school, there were rumors that Swanson had turned down college to play in the National League, but his father denied all this rumor.
She got a soccer scholarship and joined the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins, but after playing three games, she dropped out to go professional.
