Brady Skjei

Brady Skjei is a professional hockey player with the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). Skjei previously played for the NHL’s New York Rangers before being dealt to the Hurricanes. He was also a first-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft for the Rangers and the 2020 NHL Draft for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Similarly, the Minnesota native was one of only nine defensemen in Ranger history to score 25 points in three consecutive seasons at the age of 24 or younger. Skjei was also placed tenth in the Calder Memorial Trophy voting, which honors the league’s best rookie. Second, in his NHL debut game in 2015, he set a career high with 39 points, propelling the Rangers to the Eastern Conference Second Round.

Brady Skjei Education, Family, and Childhood

Brady Skjei was born on March 26, 1994, to real estate agents Scott Skjei and Michele Skjei. His hometown is Lakeville, Minnesota, in the United States of America. Brady’s father was also an Augsburg College football player. Ramsey, Skjei’s older brother, also went to the same university as Brady. Brady’s uncle, Barry Karn, has also worked as a full-time NHL skating instructor for almost 25 years. Brady’s uncle, who used to attend Barry’s skating lessons, was one of the reasons he became interested in hockey. Brady later obtained his first job working for Barry at the skating clinic.

Skjei graduated from Lakeville North High School in Minnesota, where he was a member of the varsity hockey team. Brady was arguably Lakeville’s most valuable player. Skjei and his brother both attended the University of Minnesota after graduating from high school.
He also earned a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing. Skjei also played 36 games as a freshman at the University, scoring one goal and adding two assists.

Brady Skjei Early career

Skjei began playing hockey while a student at Lakeville North High School. Brady was a high school quarterback before switching to full-time hockey. He also played golf for Lakeville North High School because he grew up on a golf course. He eventually played two seasons of hockey with the Lakeville North Panthers, the school team. In addition, he was named Rookie of the Year in his rookie season and the team’s Most Valuable Player in his second season.
