Breckynn Willis, an Alaskan high school swimmer, was disqualified from a swim meet because her bikini was too tight. On September 6, Willis, one of the state’s fastest swimmers, was competing when her team-issued bathing suit came up behind her and exposed her buttocks. Furthermore, the incident occurred while the Dimond High School student-athlete was participating against Chugiak High School in an Anchorage meet.
On September 10, the Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) overruled the referee’s decision and restored Willis’ victory. Willis’ victory was reinstated less than an hour after the Anchorage School District (ASD) requested that it be upheld. As a result of the reversal, Dimond High School was able to recoup points that had been lost owing to Willis’ disqualification.
