Brian Todd Messenger

Brian Todd Messenger was born on November 14, 1963 in Bowling Green, OH. The youngest born of Vince and
Patty Messenger, Todd was the sixth of six Messenger siblings — Cindy, Mike, Tim, Steve (Tuber), and
Jeff (Puff).
Todd was raised in Bowling Green, where he grew up living a beautiful childhood — playing street hockey
and ice hockey, sledding, prowling the neighborhood with siblings and friends and working for the family
lawn care company, Knickerbocker.
Ever the athlete, in high school Todd’s skating and scoring talent on the ice helped lead his alma mater
to a Ohio State Hockey Championship. After high school and his hockey playing days were over, Todd would
go on to get married and raise two wonderful boys with Erica — Nicholas and Thomas. Together, their
childhoods were filled with spring break trips to Florida, playing baseball with Todd coaching third
base, and going to Detroit Tigers games.
In 2011, Todd met his wonderful wife Leigh and shortly after moved to Brighton, MI where he quickly came
to deeply love not only Leigh but her three children, Amanda, Laine, and Jonas. Todd and Leigh married
in a ceremony that Todd took the initiative to plan to a “T” in Holland, MI in 2016, though it is safe
to say that his and Leigh’s deep love, affection, and shared laughs began long before that ceremony.
Todd then earned his real estate license and settled into a new career selling real estate in the central
and southeast Michigan area, which he both loved and excelled at.
Though Todd received a tough diagnosis in 2016, he battled with the utmost courage and strength as he
underwent treatment. He attended important events, did his part to upkeep the household, spent time with
their puppy Peaches, and sold real estate as recently as December 2018 before ultimately passing away on
March 10, 2019.
Todd often shared his desires for his life to be celebrated, for all of his family to stick together, and
for us all to treat one another as we want to be treated. One of the most unique, kind, charming, and
loving people you could ever meet, there is not a person who knew Todd who would trade their time with
him for double the time with anyone else.
Todd is survived by his wife, Leigh, sons Nick and Thomas, his stepchildren Amanda, Laine and Jonas and
his brothers and sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
The funeral was a small private ceremony.
