Camila Mendes – American Actress

Camila Mendes is the famous Veronica Lodge of the TV adaptation of the comics Archie that is titled Riverdale. She just recently joined the entertainment industry. Her role in Riverdale is her debut to the industry. She is handled and managed by Carson Kolker Organization or now known as Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

Early Life

She was born  Camila Carraro Mendes on June 29, 1994. Although coming from Brazilian roots, she Camila was born in Charlottesville in Virginia, USA and raised in different American states. She has only lived in Brazil for a year when she was ten years old and spent most of her childhood in Florida, USA. She can speak both English and Portuguese fluently.

Camila attended American Heritage School in Plantation, South Florida before moving to New York for her college degree. She took up Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts at the Tisch School of Fine Arts at New York University. For two semester worth, she enrolled in the activities of the Stonestreet Film Acting Conservatory.

Family

So far, Camila has not disclosed details about her parents nor her childhood except that she has moved sixteen times when she was younger before they settled when she was 12 years old.  The only information known about her parents is that they were born and raised in Brazil. Unlike her mother who is Portugues-speaking, her father is an English speaker.

Kiara Moreno is the name of her older sister. Pictures of them when they were younger can be seen on her Instagram posts. On July 07, 2017, Camila posted about her grandmother or in Portuguese translation, Vovo. In her Instagram post, she shared that her grandmother passed away after losing her battle against the degenerative disease Alzheimer’s.

She shared a photo of her grandma back in the days with her and her sister. She captioned the photo “lost an incredible woman to Alzheimer’s today. RIP Vovó Dalu. when I was little I thought her name was Vovó da Lua, which means ‘grandmother of the moon,’ and as I got older, I never stopped calling her that 🌔 the moon has been known to symbolize the cycle of life, and her passing is a heartfelt reminder of that cycle. she will always be my role model: a pillar of feminine strength, my grandmother of the moon❤️”
