Your “E42. 5” mix might not be as immediately corrosive as E85, but over time you’ll have the same problems. Replacing those problem pieces is the only way to be sure that mixing the two is not a problem, and even then your mileage will suffer thanks to the lower energy density of ethanol.
By blending pump premium (or 91 if you like) with E85, you can create a custom blend of high-octane fuel.
Can you mix E85?
Yes. E85 can be mixed with both “up to 10%” and ethanol-free grades. Like others have said, you can only put E85 in a vehicle that allows E85. These are “flex fuel” engines.
