Your uterus may shift as you get older or after a pregnancy, which can alter its position in your body and reduce cramping. If your periods are painful, there are simple things you can do at home that have been effective at relieving pain for many women.
What causes uterus to change position?
Weakening of the pelvic muscles: After menopause or childbirth, the ligaments supporting the uterus can become lax or weakened. As a result, the uterus falls in a backward or tipped position. Enlarged uterus: An enlarged uterus due to pregnancy, fibroids, or a tumor can also cause the uterus to become tilted.
Is the uterus supposed to move?
In most women, the uterus is tipped forward so that it lies over the bladder, with the top (fundus) towards the abdominal wall. Another normal variation found in some women is the upright uterus, where the fundus is straight up.
