Can Alliums Be Dried?

If your alliums are very large, they can be suspended individually. Hook the bundles to your drying line (we like to use an unfolded paperclip) and let the seedheads dry for three to six weeks. Once your seedheads are dry, they make playful accents for the home and garden alike.

How do you preserve alliums?

Group bundles of two or three stems and wrap a rubber band around the midsection. Then, attach the stems to the line with a binder or paper clip; some people use chip bag clips. The alliums should be fully dry in three to six weeks, depending on the moisture and humidity levels in your home.

What do you do with alliums after they have flowered?

Allium post bloom care is very easy. Simply keep the plants moderately watered until they fade to yellow and begin to shrivel. At this point, you can cut the plants down to the ground, leaving them where they are or dividing them. Allium bulbs should be divided every three or four years.
