Can an Nco Give an Order?

Many people have already posted that an order cannot be given by an NCO, they are mistaken. There are two kinds of orders, direct and lawful. Direct orders can only be given by officers, however, lawful orders can be given by NCOs.

What authority does an NCO have?

You as an NCO have both general military authority and the duty to enforce standards as outlined in AR 670-1. Your authority to enforce those regulations is specified in AR 600-20 and if you neglect your duty, you can be held accountable.

Can NCO order an officer?

Although a senior NCO cannot technically give orders to any officer, they may strongly suggest or advise a particular course of action, and gennerally those JOs, would follow such advise.
