Can Android Users Use iMessage?
Contents

Apple iMessage is a powerful and popular messaging technology that allows you to send and receive encrypted text, images, videos, voice notes and more. The big problem for many people is that iMessage doesn’t work on Android devices. Well, let’s be more specific: iMessage technically doesn’t work on Android devices.

Can non iPhone users use iMessage?

You can’t. iMessage is from Apple and it only works between Apple Devices like iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac. If you use the Messages app to send a message to a non-apple device, it will be send as a SMS instead. If you cannot send a SMS, you can also use a third-party messenger like FB Messenger or WhatsApp.

What do Android users use instead of iMessage?

To tackle this, Google’s Messages app includes Google Chat — also known technically as RCS Messaging — which has a lot of the same perks that iMessage has, including end-to-end encrypted messaging, improved group chats, read receipts, typing indicators and full-resolution photos and videos.
