Can Buildings Affect Microclimate?

This paper aims to evaluate the impacts of hourly microclimate data in typical and extreme climate conditions on the energy performance of an office building in two different urban areas. Results showed that the urban morphology can reduce the wind speed by 27% and amplify air temperature by more than 14%.

What can affect a microclimate?

Microclimate
  • The strongest gradients of temperature and humidity occur just above and below the terrestrial surface. ...
  • Microclimatic conditions depend on such factors as temperature, humidity, wind and turbulence, dew, frost, heat balance, and evaporation.

What 4 factors influence a microclimate?

Microclimate is affected by macroclimate, site, vegetation and soil factors. The influence of these factors on the light, precipitation, humidity, wind, air temperature, soil moisture and soil temperature regimes of the seedling is explained.
