Can Bus with Single Wire System?

Overview
  • CAN bus operates with a single wire.
  • Operates directly from a vehicle's 12 V battery system or a broad range of DC-power sources at low or high (33.33 kbps or 83.33 kbps) data rates.
  • A high-voltage wake-up feature allows the device to control the regulator used in support of the MCU and other logic.

CAN bus single wire?

The SAE J2411 single-wire specification is for CAN network applications with low requirements regarding bit rate and bus length. The communication takes place via just one bus line with a nominal data rate of 33,3 kbit/s (83,3 kbit/s in high-speed mode for diagnostics).

CAN bus standard wiring?

CAN bus uses two dedicated wires for communication. The wires are called CAN high and CAN low. When the CAN bus is in idle mode, both lines carry 2.5V. When data bits are being transmitted, the CAN high line goes to 3.75V and the CAN low drops to 1.25V, thereby generating a 2.5V differential between the lines.
