Can Couples Work in the Same Department?

There are no laws the prohibit this, but many employers have specific policies that do prohibit this. More common, though, are policies that prevent one family member from supervising another.

Can a couple work together in the same company?

While some employers have policies against dating a co-worker or hiring a relative of an existing employee, most of the companies with policies simply restrict relatives from working in a direct reporting relationship. Working at the same level — or in a different department — as your spouse is generally fair game.

Can a husband and wife work in the same department?

Yes, it's legal. (And sometimes I wonder what laws people think exist that would prohibit something like this.) From the employer's side, there are all kinds of reasons not to want couples working in the same department (or even in the same company, for that matter).
