Can Gain Be Negative?

Negative gain means the output is inverted from the input. For the gain to be negative, the output would have to go down when the input goes up, which is clearly not happening in your case.

Is gain negative or positive?

Gain is function of frequency and direction. If it has no specific direction, it usually means the maximum direction. That means one antenna can has both positive and/or negative gains which depend on direction. However, if maximum gain (realized gain) is negative, it has two or three factors.

Can you have negative proportional gain?

When you design a controller using PID Tuner, the resulting derivative gain, D, can have a different sign from the integral gain I. PID Tuner always returns a stable controller, even if one or more gains are negative. ... Therefore, as long as DN > –1, a negative D still yields a stable PID controller.
