Can I Squeeze a Hydrocele

A non-communicating hydrocele will not change in size. If you try to squeeze the scrotum, it will not deflate. On the other hand, a communicating hydrocele can get bigger and smaller throughout the day, and it is often possible to gently squeeze the scrotum and cause the fluid to flow back into the abdominal cavity.

What happens when a hydrocele bursts?

A large hydrocele may obstruct the testicular blood supply, leading to atrophy and impairment of fertility. There are other complications such as hemorrhage, rupture or calcification of the fluid.

How can I clear my hydrocele?

An incision is made in the scrotum or lower abdomen to remove the hydrocele. If a hydrocele is found during surgery to repair an inguinal hernia, the surgeon might remove the hydrocele even if it’s causing no discomfort. After hydrocelectomy, you might need a tube to drain fluid and a bulky dressing for a few days.
