Green, yellow or even red-dominant plants may live on extra-solar planets, according to scientists whose two scientific papers appear in the March issue of the journal, Astrobiology. NASA scientists believe they have found a way to predict the color of plants on planets in other solar systems.
Why can't plants grow on other planets?
In our solar system, highly unlikely. Plants need oxygen to grow. No other planet in our solar system has an oxygen atmosphere.
Can any planets support life?
Understanding planetary habitability is partly an extrapolation of the conditions on Earth, as this is the only planet known to support life.
