Can You Grind Plexiglass

PLEXIGLAS® can be sanded by hand using sandpaper. In mechanical sanding with, for example, rotating grinding discs, orbital sanders, or belt grinders, the grinder should be moved gently – do not press on the PLEXIGLAS® sheet too hard or too long as the resulting heat of friction may cause stress and surface damage.

Can I use a router to cut plastic?

Hard plastics are best cut with solid carbide router tools. They may also be machined with carbide tipped tools, particularly in some hand held router applications when breakage may be a problem due to fixturing.

What grit sandpaper is best for plexiglass?

For best results, use 600-grit, 700-grit and then 800-grit, rather than skipping right to 800. Rinse the acrylic after each sanding section.
