Can You Recycle Dishes

Glass and ceramic dishware goes in the trash, and cannot be recycled. Consider donating your unwanted dishware to a local charity or thrift store! Find donation locations.

How do you dispose of dishes?

If dishes are broken, or have bad chips, cracks or stains, toss them. Wrap any sharp edges or pieces in newspaper, place them in a plastic bag, label them as “broken glass,” and throw them away. Broken glass is never recyclable because it’s a hazard for sanitation workers to handle it.

Can you put crockery in recycle bin?

Place it in your household waste bin or sack. Crockery cannot be recycled. These can be given away to charities or at a Give and Take Day if they are still usable. If they are broken, please place them in your household waste bin or sack.
