When a debarking surgery is performed, the vocal cords are actually cut to prevent the dog from making a loud barking sound. There is not a way to reverse this procedure, but in many cases scar tissue will build up and allow the dog to make some noise. It does not sound like a normal bark and is usually much quieter.
How much does it cost to have a dog debarked?
On average, the surgical procedure is going to cost anywhere from $75 to as much as $300. Keep in mind that many vet offices may not perform the procedure as they find that is highly unnecessary and unethical.
