Can You See Flea Larvae

Flea larvae that hatch from flea eggs are off-white in color and look like tiny worms that range from 2-5 millimeters in length. You may not see them, however, because they quickly burrow deep into carpets, cracks and grass.

Do flea eggs turn into worms?

Fleas reproduce a lot like butterflies. Females lay eggs that hatch into worm-like larvae. The larvae then spin cocoons and become pupae, and an adult flea emerges from the cocoon.

What do I do if I find flea larvae?

Change pet bedding regularly and vacuum thoroughly. Vacuuming removes up to 30 percent of the larvae and up to 60 percent of flea eggs from a carpet, as well as the larvae’s food supply of dried blood. Vacuum under furniture, cushions, chairs, beds, and along walls. Discard vacuum cleaner bags at least once a week.
