Can You Shower with a Pain Patch

You may bathe, shower, or swim while wearing a fentanyl skin patch. However, be careful to wash and dry the area around the patch gently. Rubbing may cause the patch to get loose or come off. If this does occur, throw away the patch and apply a new one in a different place.

How long do you keep pain patches on?

Adults and children 2 years of age and older—Your doctor will decide which dose of the patch you need based on your present daily narcotic dose. The patch is applied to the skin and left in place for 3 days (72 hours).

Can I shower with Norspan patch?

Bathing, showering or swimming should not affect the patch. If a patch falls off, a new one should be applied. While wearing the Norspan patch patients should be advised to avoid exposing the application site to direct external heat sources, such as heating pads, electric blankets, hot water bottles, heat lamps etc.
