The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires all over-the-counter medications to contain less than 325 milligrams (mg) of acetaminophen in each tablet or capsule. Each Excedrin tablet contains 250 mg of paracetamol. Serious liver damage can occur if you take more than eight Excedrin capsules a day.

Is Excedrin bad for You?

In high doses of Excedrin, paracetamol is bad for the liver, raw aspirin is bad for the stomach and caffeine. There is an even greater risk of serious side effects if you drink alcohol while taking Excedrin.
