Can You Transfer Your Character Between Servers in New World

New World, the MMORPG project from Amazon Games, is officially out after several test sessions, and you might be wondering if it’s possible to transfer characters from one server to another.

With New World‘s popularity, most servers are congested, and players are being queued to log in for forever. Switching servers to a less populated one definitely seems like a good idea, but sadly things aren’t so simple now.

The current situation with character server transfer in New World

Right now, you cannot transfer your characters from one server to another. However, it will be possible in the next few days. The option to transfer a character to another server will be available at some point, for a currently unknown price.

Furthermore, Amazon Games announced on Twitter a free-of-charge server transfer will be available to players in the next two weeks. The tweet reads: “To ensure everyone can find an open world now, while also finding a home in Aeternum with their community long-term, we’ll offer an opportunity in the next two weeks for all players to relocate their characters to a new server of their choice at no cost”

Update: We didn’t know initially if “new server” meant brand new servers freshly made or “new ” servers that aren’t full anymore. Now, Amazon Games stated in a follow-up tweet that it’ll be “any servers that are available at the time we make transfers available”. So we should be able to transfer to both freshly made servers, or old servers as long as they aren’t already full.

New servers opened (September 29, 2021 update)

While the server transfer feature was not implemented yet, new servers have been added for those who have yet to join any and have been stuck in queue. New servers in North America West Coast were opened. Moreover, new servers in Oceania/Australia will be coming in a few hours.
