As winter’s ice begins to thaw and award show season dwindles down, there’s one more major celebrity event to keep fashion and pop culture going before the end of the year: The Met Gala. 

The 2024 Met Gala — the annual fundraising gala to benefit the New York City Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, which happens to have a star-studded fashion show filled with ornate clothes before it actually begins — is scheduled to take place this year, of course, on the first Monday of May. Vogue also unveiled its celebrity co-chairs, as well as its theme and dress code, ahead of the event on February 15.

When Is the Met Gala?

The Met Gala will take place on the first Monday of May, May 6, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This year is stacked with both fashionable and talented celebrities — no surprises here. Zendaya, a regular fashion star who surprisingly has not attended the annual fashion event since 2019, will be a co-chair alongside Jennifer Lopez, a 14-time attendee. Bad Bunny, the It boy known for delivering both gender-bending, streetwear-inspired looks and hit singles, is also on the panel this year alongside Chris Hemsworth, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s very own Thor. This year’s gala marks Hemsworth’s first time attending the event, and all will work alongside Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour in welcoming guests to the Met Gala’s newest exhibit (more on that later).

The new cast of characters follows last year’s ​​group, which consisted of co-chairs Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, and Dua Lipa with Wintour.
