Children Survive Plane Crash in Colombian Jungle, Found Alive 40 Days Later

The Colombian president has announced that all four children who survived a plane crash and went missing in a jungle have been found alive and are currently receiving medical treatment.

President Gustavo Petro shared the news on social media, expressing joy for the country and describing the children as an “example of survival” whose story will be remembered in history.

The children, aged 11 months to 13 years, were in a Cessna 206 plane with their mother, who was the pilot, when it crashed in the Amazon rainforest on May 1. Sadly, their mother did not survive the crash.

Following the crash, it took 40 days for the children to be located in the jungle, where they were found alone. The search effort involved Colombian armed forces, indigenous tribes, and volunteers, and signs of their survival such as footprints and items with human bite marks were discovered during the search.

The children’s father, who had previously faced threats from criminal groups in their community, had moved to Bogotá and was awaiting the arrival of his family to start a new life together.

The successful rescue of the children, who endured challenging conditions in the jungle, has been hailed as a remarkable tale of survival and resilience.
