Archery has evolved alongside technology and science. People started with wooden arrows and now use sophisticated carbon and aluminum arrows for their accuracy and spped. But how are these two types of arrows different? This article will outline and explain the differences between aluminum and carbon arrows.
Weight
The primary difference between aluminum and carbon arrows is their weight. Carbon arrows tend to be much lighter than aluminum arrows, giving them an edge when shooting longer distances. The extra speed means that archers can shoot more accurately. For shorter ranges and shots, however, the difference between the two is minimal.
The lightweight nature of carbon arrows also makes them easier to carry around than heavier aluminum ones. The lighter weight of carbon arrows also contributes to their lower cost.
Straighten Ability
Carbon arrows are notoriously brittle and prone to bending. If the arrows are bent too much, they often need to be replaced entirely. On the other hand, aluminum arrows are much more malleable and can be straightened out if they get bent. This makes it much cheaper to fix aluminum arrows than carbon arrows.
Aluminum arrows are also much less susceptible to weather conditions. Rain, strong winds, and other environmental factors have been known to tear or even break carbon arrows. Aluminum arrows, on the other hand, can handle these conditions much better.
