Oceanfront and Ocean View are two commonly used terms in the hospitality, hotel and travel industry. These terms refer to different aspects of a room or a suite’s location and view. Understanding the difference between the two will help you make an informed decision when booking a hotel. Below we will look at the differences between Oceanfront and Ocean View.
Definition of Oceanfront
Oceanfront refers to a view of the ocean with no objects (such as buildings, trees, or other obstructions) blocking your view. This room or suite should have some kind of wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling window that is either partially or completely unobstructed. When you book an oceanfront room, you can expect to get an up-close view of the ocean.
An oceanfront room is usually the most expensive option. This is because it provides the best view and also because it is considered to be the most desirable location within a resort or a hotel. But you will also get to enjoy all the amenities that a beach resort or hotel might offer.
Definition of Ocean View
As opposed to an oceanfront view, Ocean View usually refers to a view of the ocean that is blocked at least partly by trees, buildings, or other obstructions. You may even be able to see the ocean, but not fully. This does not mean that it is any less beautiful or desirable than an Oceanfront room, though.
An Ocean View room is usually more affordable than an Oceanfront room because there is some type of obstruction, however these rooms still offer a great view of the ocean and its surroundings. And of course, you will still be able to access all the amenities of the resort or hotel.
