Cows hate sedge hay, but they will eat it when they have to and do OK on it. It's really high in fiber so it jams them up a bit, but I've never had any problems from feeding it. A couple of years ago I did an experiment and made a few balage bales out of it.

Beneficial: Grazed to a limited extent by horses and cattle but of little forage value. Fragrant roots used in perfumes. Tubers are edible and were a source of food for aboriginals.
