If you're experiencing BH contractions, you'll generally feel a tightening across the middle of your abdomen. It may even be visible from the outside, making your belly look lopsided and hard.
Can contractions start one side?
The uterus may feel firm on one side while the opposite side remains soft. You may also have localized contractions that cause a bulging on only one side of the uterus. This type of contraction does not cause equal pressure within the uterus and does not cause your cervix to change.
Does your tummy go hard during a contraction?
During true labour contractions, you'll feel your belly tightening and becoming very hard while the contraction lasts, then the pain will subside as the muscles relax again. Another sign that your contractions are the real thing is that they don't go away when you change position, take a bath or go for a walk.
