Do Flintlocks Work in Rain?

Gunpowder will not fire if it is wet. So technically, you could fire a musket in the rain as long as you were careful about keeping your powder dry. One of the best examples of this is the Battle of Fort Necessity at the beginning of the French and Indian War.

Does a gun work if it gets wet?

Modern ammunition is watertight and you may still fire them outdoors during heavy rain or high-humidity season. However, if submerged underwater for too long, it's likely that water will get into the casing and render the powder too wet to ignite.
