Do Medical Requisitions Expire?

Requisitions do not expire, however if your Healthcare Provider has closed their practice or moved their office, it is recommended to obtain a new requisition.

How long do requisitions last?

It is recommended that you bring a copy of your requisition with you to a rural appointment. Is my Standing Order still valid? Standing orders are valid for 1 year. If you are unsure if your standing order is still valid you may call the Lab Information Centre at 403-770-3600.

How long are medical orders valid for?

There is no national policy that dictates the expiration date of standing orders such as these. However, most providers require that they be renewed at least annually, and in some cases as frequently as every three months.
