Do Mexican Eat Churros

Although introduced to the New World by Spain, churros are very popular in Mexico as well as in other Latin American countries, where they come in many local variations. In Latin America, churros are thick sticks and often filled.

Who invented churro?

Whether Portuguese sailors, Spanish shepherds, or the Chinese get the credit for inventing the churro, it was during the 16th century, Spanish explorers brought Churros to every port of the new world. They quickly became local favourites and this may be why many countries claim Churros as their own.

Are churros and donuts the same?

Basically a churro is made with the same type of batter as a cream puff or eclair or a French Cruller doughnut. So more accurately, a churro is more like a cream puff or eclair than a doughnut. But the real reason it’s not a doughnut, is because it’s straight, not round with a hole in it.
