Do Penguins Pee and Poo

No penguins do not pee. Like all birds, penguins do not have a urethra or bladder, and instead of turning waste into urea it is turned into uric acid. This is secreted out as waste alongside a penguin’s poop as a semi solid white paste. They are able to do this in a very interesting and crazy way!

What color is penguin pee?

Penguin poop is called guano. Just like flighted birds you may see that it is sometimes white and sometimes has brown, green, or black in it. The white part is the urine, and the other colors are the poop.

Is 3% of Antarctica penguin pee?

Nearly three percent of the ice in Antarctic glaciers is penguin urine! Since the temperature there is much below 0 centigrade. The urine of penguins freezes in the ice pretty much straight away and can’t get washed off or evaporate.
