Do Phalanges Have Condyles?

The phalangeal condyles ossify in an eccentric manner and the VPL will intersect the phalangeal condyle more dorsally with increasing age.

What are phalanges made of?

The phalanges are comprised of the proximal, middle, and distal groups. The proximal bones are located just below the knuckle, while the middle bones are located above the knuckle. The distal phalanges are the fingertips. This is why the term terminal phalanges may be interchangeable with distal phalanges.

Are the phalanges convex or concave?

Gross anatomy

The middle and proximal phalanges each have a base proximally, head distally, and body in between. The bases are concave in order to articulate with the convex head of the more proximal metacarpal or phalanx.
