Do Pheasants Change Colour

Golden pheasants are much easier. By the time chicks are around 3 months old, males have colored markings on the back and base of the tail, a noticeable golden crest, and their eyes change color to a very pale yellow. In the picture below you can see a female golden pheasant.

Are male or female pheasants colorful?

Male pheasants look very different from females; their bright, colorful feathers set them apart from the muted brown coloring of the female. When hunting pheasant, always be sure that the bird you see is male before taking the shot.

Are there blue pheasants?

Crossoptilon auritum or Blue Eared Pheasant is another wonderful pheasant species from the avian-rich forests of China. Blue Eared Pheasants are large and chunky birds. They are mostly a rich blue-gray color but with bright red facial patches and distinguishing white tufts (or ear coverts) along the sides of the head.
