These drugs are known as atypical antipsychotics. They include aripiprazole (Abilify), olanzapine (Zyprexa), quetiapine (Seroquel), risperidone (Risperdal), and others. The drugs often make people drowsy, but there is little evidence that they actually help you fall or stay asleep.
Can risperidone make you sleepy?
Common side effects of taking risperidone (affecting up to one in ten people) include: feeling sleepy, tired, weak or exhausted - this can be worse at the start of treatment and wear off after a few weeks. If you take your dose once daily, you could try taking it just before you go to bed.
Does risperidone calm you down?
