Do You Sign Missives?

As explained above, the letters that make up the missives are sent by (and therefore signed by) solicitors on behalf of their client and on the basis of their client's instructions. So the terms of the missives will be explained to you and discussed with you, but you don't actually sign them.

When should missives be signed?

Once both parties are satisfied with all the terms and conditions, the missives will be signed and the offer will be finalised. This process is called concluding the missives and can take any length of time from two weeks to a few months, depending on how complicated the sale is.

How do missives work?

Essentially the missives are letters exchanged between buyer and seller via their solicitors. This does not have to be a lengthy negotiation or exchange: all that is required is the buyer's written offer for the property and the matching acceptance of this offer by the seller.
