What happens to Manette?
At the start of the novel, Manette has been recently released from the Bastille after a long imprisonment. He is briefly given shelter in Paris by his former servant Ernest Defarge (who will subsequently be a leader of the storming of the Bastille) and is then reunited with his daughter Lucie.
How does Dr. Manette get resurrected?
Dr. Manette is resurrected, or ''recalled to life,'' when he is rescued after 18 years in prison and brought back to his old life through the love of his daughter, Lucie. Sydney Carton experiences a spiritual resurrection through his self-sacrificing death, which redeems his wasted life and saves Darnay and his family.
