By default, a folder is created with the same name as the repository we cloned. In our first example, we cloned a repository without specifying a folder name. The resultant copy of our repository was called ck-git.

git folder before cloning will do the trick. @TejasManohar Make sure that you have deleted hidden files as well. ls -a will show all files, including hidden ones.

Does git clone clone to current directory?

git . From git help clone : Cloning into an existing directory is only allowed if the directory is empty. So make sure the directory is empty (check with ls -a ), otherwise the command will fail.
